What a canvas redraw actually removes
Images often carry hidden data alongside the pixels: camera make and model, capture time, GPS coordinates, editing software, colour profiles, and sometimes thumbnails of an earlier version. This tool decodes the image, draws it onto a canvas, and exports a fresh file containing only the pixels you can see. The embedded blocks are not copied across.
Because the redraw is local, an image containing location data never has to be uploaded anywhere in order to be cleaned.
When to strip metadata
Strip it before posting a photo publicly, sending one to a client, or uploading to a marketplace where the file will be republished. GPS coordinates in particular can reveal a home address, and camera serial numbers can tie an anonymous upload to your other accounts.
Strip it before attaching an image to a support ticket or a public forum post, where the file may be indexed and archived indefinitely.
What you lose in the process
A redraw discards everything, including data you may have wanted: the camera settings described in EXIF, the colour profile that told a printer how to render the image, and any copyright or authorship tags. For anything destined for print or archiving, keep the untouched original alongside the cleaned copy.
Output is a plain raster file. Any vector or layered information in the original cannot survive a canvas round-trip.
Quick tips
- Canvas export creates a fresh image file and does not preserve most embedded metadata.
- Keep the original if you need camera, color, or authorship metadata later.
Next step: turn a still photo into video
Everything above runs in your browser and costs nothing. When the file is ready, Animate AI takes over: upload one photo, pick a motion preset, and get a short video back. Credits are prepaid, so you see the exact price before you start.
