How this converter works
PNG, JPG and WEBP are three different ways of storing the same pixels. The converter decodes your file with the image decoder already built into your browser, draws it onto a canvas, and re-encodes it in whichever format you pick. Because the work happens on your own machine, a 20 MB product photo or an unreleased design never travels over the network.
There is no upload step, no queue and no account. The trade-off is that your browser does the encoding, so a batch of very large files will be limited by your laptop, not by a server farm.
Choosing between PNG, JPG and WEBP
JPG discards detail to keep files small, which is why it suits photographs and is a poor choice for screenshots, UI captures and logos with hard edges. PNG keeps every pixel and supports transparency, so it is the right target when a crisp edge or a cut-out matters. WEBP usually produces the smallest file at comparable quality, but a fair number of older desktop apps, marketplaces and print services still reject it.
A practical rule: keep source assets as PNG, publish photographs as WEBP, and fall back to JPG when a form or an upload field refuses anything modern.
Where conversion fits before you animate
Photo-to-video tools generally accept the common web formats, but they do not all handle transparency or very large files gracefully. Convert to an opaque JPG when the source has a transparent background you do not want preserved, and downscale before uploading when the original is far larger than the target frame.
If you are preparing a whole set of stills for animation, convert the format first and resize second. Converting an already-resized file costs one extra generation of compression loss for no benefit.
Quick tips
- Use WEBP when you want smaller web assets.
- Keep PNG for transparent overlays and design mockups.
Next step: turn a still photo into video
Everything above runs in your browser and costs nothing. When the file is ready, Animate AI takes over: upload one photo, pick a motion preset, and get a short video back. Credits are prepaid, so you see the exact price before you start.
